A Jamaica é um país relativamente distante, mas que compartilha muitas características com o Brasil. Prova disso é "Bambas Dois", um dos projetos mais interessantes e musicalmente ricos dos últimos tempos no país e que foi criado pelo produtor Eduardo Bidlovski, o BiD, ao lado do músico Fernando Nunes e de DJ Gusta, da banda Echo Sound System. Continuação de "Bambas e Biritas – Vol. 1", o futuro álbum tem como objetivo apresentar a mistura das culturas e da música brasileira com o reggae e outros gêneros jamaicanos, entre eles o rocksteady e dancehall. E, para tanto, conta com a participação de vários e importantes artistas jamaicanos e brasileiros que dão legitimidade ao projeto. A idéia nasceu no começo do ano de forma totalmente inesperada. BiD, que havia acabado de produzir o disco "Francisco Forró e Frevo", de Chico César, estava com o músico em uma lancha se preparando para um mergulho quando, ao colocar uma das canções do disco para tocar --um forró com batidas eletrônicas--, observou o motorista do barco cantando em cima de sua base. "Quando ouvi, pensei: isso vai ser o próximo 'Bambas'", contou BiD por telefone. O produtor, então, compôs e gravou 13 faixas instrumentais e viajou até a Jamaica para que artistas locais fizessem letras e emprestassem suas vozes para as canções. A lista de participações é extensa e conta com grandes ícones da música jamaicana nos vocais, como Heptones, U-Roy, Tony Rebel, Oku Onuora e novatos como Ky-Mani Marley (filho de Bob Marley), Sizzla Kalonji, Queen Ifrica, Luciano, I Wayne e Jesse Royal. Na parte instrumental, Ernest Ranglin (Skatalites), Robbie Lynn (da gravadora Studio One) e Sticky (percussionista de Bob Marley e Augustus Pablo) deram as caras ao lado dos brasileiros Daniel Ganjaman, Lúcio Maia, Marcelo Castilho, Siba, James Mü, Jorge Du Peixe e outros. Todo o projeto foi registrado em belas imagens tanto em vídeo quanto em fotografia, que podem ser vistos na página do "Bambas Dois" no YouTube e no blog do estúdio Soul City. A ideia é transformar o Making of em um programa de TV, para mais tarde ser lançado em DVD. Apenas dois cinegrafistas acompanharam BID na missão de filmar as gravações. "Foi até um pouco desgastante por ser uma equipe muito enxuta, algo que acabou sobrecarregando todo mundo", contou. "Mas ficamos bem felizes, porque o que rolou talvez só teria acontecido com uma equipe bem maior".
