O Interesse de Nikesha pela música evoluiu naturalmente; na verdade, ela cresceu no ambiente de estúdio de gravação com seu pai - Willie Lindo, que é uma lenda da música reggae como músico e produtor. Ela fez sua primeira gravação profissional aos 8 anos, dublando uma canção de Natal "Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer” em combinação com seu irmão mais velho, o multitalentoso Kashief Lindo. Posteriormente, ela lançou um álbum solo de canções de Natal quando tinha 12 anos. Ela explica: “Todos os dias eu estava no estúdio depois da escola, então parecia natural ver pessoas trabalhando; mesmo quando comecei a gravar, parecia normal estar fazendo o que vi meu pai fazer com Kashief. O engraçado é que meu pai tem essa gravação minha cantando “Super Woman” quando eu tinha 3 anos. Eu não acreditaria se não ouvisse. Então, para mim cantar vem naturalmente, eu só faço isso, nem entendendo a gravidade do it”.

Nikesha também é compositora, escrevendo seus próprios originais e também canções para outros artistas. Além de trabalhar com o pai, ela trabalhou com outros produtores como Sly and Robbie, Computer Paul, Colin "Bulby" York e Delly Ranx, entre outros. Suas faixas têm recebido críticas elogiosas e transmissões de players respeitados da indústria em todo o mundo.

Formada em administração e psicologia, Nikesha aborda a música com a mesma disciplina. Uma artista trabalhadora no estúdio e no palco, Nikesha faz todos os seus vocais de fundo em suas gravações, e fez o mesmo para muitos outros artistas. No seu tempo de inatividade ela adora assistir a um filme, relaxar com a família e ouvir todo tipo de música. “Duas das minhas cantoras favoritas são Beres Hammond e Marcia Griffiths, mas ouço tudo, a música é apenas uma vibração e acompanho o que sinto” ela exclamou: "Gostaria que todos prosperassem porque a música como um todo seria melhor, e é por isso que adoro música e gosto de fazer isso".
