Seydou Diabaté, que mais tarde ficaria conhecido como Larry Cheick, nasceu na Costa do Marfim em 1957. Ele começou sua carreira musical tocando violão em cabarés, apaixonou-se pelos ritmos do reggae e conheceu Alpha Blondy, com quem colaborou em "Solar System" antes de fundar o grupo Reggae Roots. Sua carreira solo decolou em 1984 com o lançamento de seu primeiro álbum, " Sarajevo Crime", impulsionado pelo single "Massa ". Seu reggae energético cativou os ouvintes, e Larry Cheick se estabeleceu como uma figura de destaque no gênero na Costa do Marfim ao lado de Alpha Blondy. Ele lançou em seguida "Code pénal" em 1993, que alcançou as paradas musicais nacionais e lhe rendeu uma indicação ao Africa Music Awards. Após os álbuns *Les 10 commandements de Dieu * (1994), *Procès * (2002) e o single "Back to School" (2002), o cantor tornou-se menos visível no início dos anos 2000, deixando de lado seus compromissos musicais para se dedicar ao trabalho humanitário. Troy Ellis nasceu em Trench Town, Kingston, na Jamaica - o berço histórico de grandes nomes do reggae. Ele iniciou sua trajetória na música ainda na infância, apresentando-se como artista de rua em sua comunidade.

Vivendo no Reino Unido (frequentemente baseado na região de Bristol), Troy assumiu a missão de manter viva a obra de seu pai e as raízes da música jamaicana.

Carreira Musical: Ele lidera o grupo Troy Ellis & His Hail Jamaica Band, com o qual realiza turnês regulares pela Europa e pelo Reino Unido, misturando canções autorais com os clássicos imortalizados por Alton Ellis. A banda já se apresentou em palcos de grande prestígio, como o Jazz World Stage no Festival de Glastonbury e o Royal Albert Hall, em Londres.

Noel Ellis: Também seguiu os caminhos do roots reggae de forma consistente, gravando canções de forte teor espiritual e social (como o single "Innocent Man").

Georgia e Keecia Ellis: As filhas de Alton também seguiram passos artísticos, participando frequentemente de shows e eventos de tributo em memória ao legado do pai no Reino Unido.

Lov'Ellis: Outra filha que atua na música, gravando releituras em homenagem ao repertório clássico deixado por Alton Ellis (como a faixa "Too Late").

A Conexão Familiar: A música é um traço genético tão forte na família que o talento se estende para além dos filhos: os renomados comediantes jamaicanos Owen "Blakka" Ellis e Ian "Ity" Ellis são sobrinhos de Alton, e a irmã dele, Hortense Ellis, foi uma das vozes femininas pioneiras mais importantes do ska e do reggae na Jamaica.
